Based in Dallas with her husband and two sons, Ashley is a major baseball fan who loves cheering from the stands and spending quality time with her family. As SMD continues to gain recognition nationwide for revolutionizing the accounting industry, Ashley’s ability to implement successful strategies for both our team and clients remains a cornerstone of our success.

Prior to joining SMD, Jason worked for 7 years as a tax preparer and advisor with a CPA firm in Portland, Oregon. He is an avid football fan (go Ducks!), gamer, husband, and dad. Jason brings a diverse background of experience that includes tax, payroll, business advisory, and bookkeeping expertise. He truly excels at taking complex concepts and making them understandable to the non-accountant. This skill helps business owners interpret their financial information for the purpose of making decisions and enhancing the value of their business and their personal lives. Whether it’s a medical practice, real estate investor, roofing company, law firm, or coffee shop; Jason has a passion for helping SMD’s clients achieve success.

Joel joined SMD shortly after completing his Masters in Accounting at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. This Bronx born accountant has a deep love for personal finance and business development. Analyzing business and tax situations to find the optimal outcome for clients is just what he does, and that fits perfectly within the SMD culture. He spends his free time building home desktop PCs, researching Crypto techniques and strategies, or reviewing Broadway shows for the young readers of the TDF (Theater Development Fund) publication. Whether he’s helping a small business owner, medical professional, crypto investor, or real estate investor; Joel excels at supporting others with their business and tax needs.

Darlinda is a QuickBooks Online Pro Advisor and has her BBA in Management with a focus on Small Business Management. She has over 15 years of bookkeeping experience and absolutely loves cleaning up a set of books. She will learn about your goals, opportunities, and challenges and work with you to implement the best solutions to help you move from where you are now, to where you want to be.

She was born and raised in Texas, and currently lives in Amarillo with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, and a turtle. They often take road trips to Oklahoma and New Mexico where they spend hours riding in their Side by Sides.

Sonya is more than an Accounting Services Advisor—she’s a partner in your business’s success. With over 18 years of experience, she has honed her skills in bookkeeping and accounting, delivering precise financial insights tailored to each client. Sonya’s passion for people shines in her work as she builds strong relationships, asks meaningful questions, and ensures clients always have the information they need to make smart decisions.

At home in Alabama, Sonya loves life with her husband, son, and daughter. Whether she’s relaxing by the lake or caring for her many animals, her connection to nature is a key part of who she is. Sonya’s combination of expertise, curiosity, and care makes her a trusted advisor and an integral part of our team.

Caity brings a personable, detail-oriented approach to her bookkeeping work with SMD. She thrives on helping clients stay organized and supported, and she enjoys building strong working relationships that make complex financial details feel more manageable. Known for her upbeat personality and collaborative style, Caity is a valuable addition to our team.

She lives in Oklahoma with her husband and their cat, Merlin, and in her free time she enjoys reading, playing board games, and spending time with family.

Gracelyn brings a rare mix of organization, adaptability, and genuine warmth to her role at SMD. With a background in banking, recruiting, entrepreneurship, and leadership, she’s honed the ability to keep operations running smoothly while building meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues alike. Whether she’s streamlining processes, coordinating events, or helping a teammate solve a challenge, Gracelyn approaches every task with focus, positivity, and a drive to exceed expectations.

Outside of SMD, Gracelyn channels her creativity as the owner of Sun Kissed Imagery, capturing natural, light-filled moments for clients across DFW. She also serves as President of the Plano chapter of Global Women’s Empire, leading initiatives to mentor women in business and foster community growth. Originally from Celina, Texas, Gracelyn enjoys community involvement, spending time outdoors, and making memories with friends and family. Her blend of professionalism, creativity, and personal touch makes her a vital part of the SMD team.

Coleton is a dedicated and driven professional who has recently graduated with a master’s degree in accounting and is embarking on an exciting journey towards becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). With a keen eye for detail and a passion for numbers, he’s ready to tackle complex financial challenges and help you achieve your financial aspirations.

His fascination with numbers and his knack for meticulous detail drive his dedication in the accounting industry. He is committed to providing exceptional financial expertise and support to help businesses thrive. Coleton’s technical skills with QuickBooks Online are superb, and with his knowledge and experience, he can help you navigate the world of finance, streamlining your accounting processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.

Beyond the world of accounting, Coleton has a strong passion for volunteering, especially when it comes to animals. He sincerely believes in giving back to the community and making a positive impact on our furry friends. He also has a passion for gaming; from board games to video games to trading-card games, Coleton is an enthusiast through and through. He enjoys the strategic thinking, problem-solving, and camaraderie that gaming offers.

Evan plays one of the biggest supporting roles here at SMD. As the Intern, he supports our consultants behind the scenes with research, reporting, and other tasks that help keep our client work running smoothly. He’s detail-oriented, curious, and energized by making complex topics simple for the team and clients. Evan brings a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine heart for service.

He also brings over a decade of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and operations. Mid-career, he made the bold decision to return to school to pursue his CPA license. He has completed his bachelor’s degree in accounting at Texas State University, is finishing his master’s degree, and is actively preparing for the CPA exam. His discipline, focus, and drive to achieve his goals make him an incredible asset to our team.
